“Special tends to be less practical than normal”, according to Jasper Morrison’s basic principle for designs that aren’t extraordinary but rather ‘supra-ordinary’ and adjust to everyday life, much like the HAL. The HAL is Morrison's re-interpretation of the multifunctional shell chair and the foundation of a series of versatile chairs with a modern look. Thanks to its shape, the shell chair offers lots of freedom of movement in various sitting positions, even sideways or astride. Combinations of 15 different frames and a shell made of polypropylene (HAL), plywood (HAL Ply) or a lightly padded shell upholstered in leather (HAL Leather) are available. The HAL version with a shell of polypropylene and a powder-coated frame is suitable for outdoor use. As an extra option, all versions of the HAL are available with fabric seat upholstery in various colours. Models with a plastic shell can also be fitted with a fixed seat cushion.
